Hi Zoot Swingers, Do you have a spare couch or floor space?  Hotsing visiting dancers is a great way to meet new people and to learn about other cities or countries.  With the ELX fast approaching and visitors from around the UK, Europe and the US, we need to find lots of Edinburgh hosts!  Please email us or go to the ELX Website to register your ability to host a visitor. We've just started going through the feedback from last weekend's aerials course and so far the response has been very positive.  One cautionary tale - a participant badly injured her foot on landing.  As teachers we're always wonder what we could have done differently or what we will change for next time.  The participant and spotters (people responsible for catching the lady) seemed to do everything right but still the lady's landing was off.  Please remember when practicing aerials that accidents can and will occasionally happen.  Always use spotters for new aerials.  Always practice the set-ups over and over again and always approach aerials with somber but confident attitude and never try them out on the social dance floor.   When done right, they are loads of fun and add great flash to routines and jam circles. Private Lessons Suggested Music and What We Play 1.  Edinburgh Lindy Exchange '08 Many of you are aware that a number of Edinburgh Swing Dancers are organising a Lindy Exchange to take place here in Edinburgh on the 26 -28th of September 08. Edinburgh has a great social dance scene and therefore we thought it would be a great idea to invite dancers from all over the world to come to Edinburgh and dance with us. Obviously an Exchange does not work without lots of local (Scottish) dancers to meet, greet and dance with those who have come from dance floors further afield. So if you fancy a great weekend of social dancing don't miss out. The Edinburgh Lindy Exchange 08 promises to be one long dance party.  For more information, visit the the Edinburgh Lindy Exchange website or talk to Ben or Helen. As you can imagine such a weekend takes a lot of organising, hence it would really help with the administration if we could ask all our local dancers to sign up and pay as early as possible ideally by the end of June. This will allow the ELX team to concentrate on ensuring a successful event. To book go to the ELX web site click on bookings and follow the instructions. Alternatively print off a copy of the booking form, complete and hand in with a cheque (payable to The Edinburgh Lindy Exchange to either) Nick/Rhona at ESDS, Shell at Edinbop or Ben/Helen at Zoot Swing. 2.  Call for Edinburgh Lindy Exchange City Tour Guides Do you know some interesting facts about Edinburgh?  If you do, then Edinburgh Lindy Exchange would love for you to voluteer to take groups of visiting dancers on a city tour.  The city tour is part of the daytime Saturday (28th September) activities being offered by the Exchange to give out-of-towners a walking experience of this fine city.  The tour can be as informative or creative as you like - the emphasis is on fun and showing our guests a good time.  If this is something you would like to do please drop Helen an e-mail at info@edinburghlindyexchange.co.uk. 3.  Upcoming Workshops a)  Manchester Mid-summer Madness - 27th to 29th of June Workshop, Dances and a Charity Dance Battle!!
