4.  Scotland Swing Storm - March 12-14

Two days of swing dance workshops, and now we've got our whole line up:

Joseph and Trisha Sewell (UK), swing dance champions and organisers of the UK's biggest swing dance festival Goodnight Sweetheart.
Scott Cupit (AUS/UK), Australian swing dance legend and all round awesome guy, founder of Swing Patrol Australia and Swing Patrol London
Keith McGee (USA/UK), wonderfully creative dancer in swing, blues and balboa and creative force behind Manchester's Midsummer Madness and Summer Sizzler and the lindy battle of the North.
Ben and Helen Birns (AUS/UK), your local teachers who teach in many places all ove the UK, specializing in aerials, dips and tricks.

Two levels of classes:

Improvers/Intermediate

You’ve been social dancing for around one year and are adding more moves to your repertoire.  You’re looking forward to learning some cool moves and learning the techniques to really lead and follow confidently.  This level will expose you to new dance possibilities and leave you with loads to take away and work on.

Intermediate Plus/Advanced

You’ve been on the social dance floor regularly for at least two years and are confident on the social dance floor.  Your dancing is more than just the moves you were taught and you routinely add musicality and fancy footwork.  This level will challenge your skills and stretch your dance brain but still be loads of fun.

Two nights of dancing on the Friday and Saturday nights

Saturday night includes Scottish Swing Dance Championships, two dance floors and teacher demos.

£70 early-bird for the whole weekend package (workshops and dances) registered and paid by 21st February 2010.  Â£80 full weekend from 22nd March 2010.  Saturday dance pass only £10.  If you are entering the competition you still need to pay entry for the Saturday night dance if you have not paid for the full weekend pass.

Registrations are now open for this huge weekend at www.scotlandswingstorm.com
Not sure of your level?  Then send us an e-mail or ask in class. info@zootswing.co.uk

5.  Scottish Swing Dance Championships - March 13

The Saturday night of the Scotland Swing Storm will see three competitions with some awesome prizes.

Second Annual Solo Charleston Competition
Jack and Jill competition
Swing dance

Website, registrations and more info coming soon.  What you need to do now is decide where to practice.

6.  Social swing dance night in Aberdeen - December 12

Philip Trösser, who teaches swing dancing in Aberdeen, welcomes you to their very first Social Dancing Event!

You don't learn dancing by attending classes only. They solely deliver the techniques and some moves.
Attend social dancing events like this to:

... learn how to actually dance with your partner and not just next to him/her
... start feeling the music
... feel the chemistry
... have FUN

Bring your friends along too.  For those who have not done any Swing Dancing before, there will be a short lesson at 6.00 pm so you will not be lost.

5:30pm - 9:45pm
Chaplaincy Centre on Aberdeen Campus, 25 High Street

Visit them on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/event.php?eid=210739331317&ref=mf

7.  Aerials course cancelled

Unfortunately due to lack of numbers this course has been cancelled.  However, we'll look to putting it on again in April.  Sorry to those who were so keen.

8.  New class prices for 2010

Due to good ol' inflation, the time has come for us to raise our prices.  As of January 2010 class prices will be:

Swing dance classes: £6 full, £5 student/unemployed
Blues dance classes: £6 full, £5 student/unemployed
Charleston classes: £6 full, £5 student/unemployed
If you do two classes in one night the second class will be £4 and £3 student/unemployed - that's £2 off!

2 hours of Swing social dancing on swing nights will be free
2 hours of Blues social dance £2 (if you didn't pay to do the class).

10 class passes will cost £50 full, £40 student/unemployed.  These prices will start in January 2010 so if you buy a discount pass at the last class for the year they will still be at the cheaper prices.
